There was a young Cambodian woman I met by chance on the street. They were in the same university as me, and we had a very close age gap, so we had a good understanding. We even promised to teach each other’s languages whenever we had time.
Later, I studied Cambodian with a young woman. I was thinking about what words I could say in Korean, and I thought of the “language of a mother’s love that brings peace.” She taught Korean and English, the language of motherly love, in Korean. We listened to the campaign song in Cambodian together, and we promised to continue our studies at the next meeting.
Although we come from different places and have different cultures, through the language of motherly love, we were able to understand and empathize with each other’s feelings.
