When she was young, her second daughter was loved by everyone for her bright and lively personality. However, as puberty began around the 5th and 6th grade, I became stronger in my thoughts and my emotional ups and downs increased. My mother’s words only sounded like nagging, and when I entered middle school, I began to show a rebellious and negative attitude toward everything.
Seeing him, I scolded him and scolded him in various ways, but that was the only moment. When I became dissatisfied, I poured out my emotions again, and I, too, grew frustrated and worried.
Then, after attending a Parent’s Day event at the church , I began to reflect on myself through the Word of God. Looking back, I was more interested in the first, who is the first to do everything as a mother, and I think there were situations where I was compared to the older sister who was sincere. I also thought that the way I looked at the second child, always worried and anxious, may have been hurting him.
From then on, I decided to put the language of a mother’s love into practice. Whenever I saw the second child, I stopped nagging and began to listen to the child’s heart.
When I came back from school, I said, “You’ve worked hard today,” and when I made a mistake, I apologized, “I’m sorry, Mom.” When the child seemed worried, I listened carefully, saying, “I want to hear your story.”
However, a remarkable change occurred. The child, who would normally go straight to his room and shut the door, came up to him and began talking about what had happened at school. The child who had only liked to talk with friends began to open up to her mother.
Even more surprising was their attitude toward worship. The child, who used to miss worship services because of the academy, said that he would first take a break from the academy and go to worship. Even after only practicing it for about ten days, I saw the changes in my child, and I deeply felt that the language of a mother’s love is the powerful key that can open a person’s heart.
Through this experience, I once again made a resolution. It means that we will practice the language of a mother’s love, whether at home, in the community, or in society. I realized that the best way to open someone’s heart and reach out to them sincerely is through words of love.
From now on, instead of being guided by words and deeds, as we have become accustomed to, I want to practice the words of Mother’s love and walk more paths of peace.
