I live at a distance from my family, so I only get to see them about once a year. Also, with work and other activities, I stay so busy that I have a hard time calling my parents and siblings often to check in on them. Thankfully, this summer they came to visit me, and we got to spend a few days together.
I wanted to give them an encouraging gift to let them know that even though I don’t always call, I’m always thinking of them and praying that they are well. So I prepared a letter with pictures of us together and chocolate wrapped with the words “Beginning of Peace: The Words of Mother's Love.”
They were all surprised by the gift and said they had not expected it at all. When I told them I felt bad that I could not always keep in touch, everyone said they were the same way because we were all busy and understood one another. I felt relieved by their understanding, and I also felt that this gift brought us closer together.
Since then, I have been trying to keep in touch with my family more often and share positive words with them as I continue to practice “Beginning of Peace: The Words of Mother's Love.”
