At work, I had to undergo a kind of training that required me to carry out my co-workers’ tasks for a week. At first, I did not understand the mind of my supervisor. I only felt that I was being replaced, and every time I came into work, I had to fight my negative thoughts. As week one turned into week two, I became embarrassed and confused. Eventually, I could no longer hide my resentment, and my negative attitude began to affect the way I treated my co-workers.
When I came to my senses and reflected on my behavior, I realized that I had hurt my co-workers with my negative attitude. At that moment, “The Words of Mother’s Love That Bring Peace” came to mind. Determined to make things right, I decided to apologize and convened a meeting. I shared what I had realized as I came to understand each person’s vital role, and I sincerely apologized for my actions.
Since then, I have gained a much broader perspective, and the experience has made me a better worker. This great outcome started the moment I put just one word into practice: “I’m sorry.” Words have the power to heal!
