One of the lessons I have learned is that the people closest to us are often the ones we forget to encourage with loving and kind words. I am so thankful for the Beginning of Peace: Words of Mother's Love campaign for reminding me that everyone—including our own family members—needs to hear words of love and appreciation.
At home, my husband and I take turns caring for our young daughter. Even when we are both tired, hungry, or have things we need to do, he often says, "Please, after you." He gladly lets me eat first while he feeds our daughter or encourages me to get ready while he spends time playing with her. Through these small but meaningful acts of love, I was reminded that I, too, should put Mother's words of love into practice.
Simple expressions such as, "Thank you. It's all thanks to you. You've worked so hard," have a powerful impact. I realized that when we make a sincere effort to acknowledge the hard work and sacrifices of our family members, they feel loved, valued, and appreciated. As we make efforts to continue to share words of love with one another, our home become place of greater peace, gratitude, and harmony.
