To My Dear Sister

My older sister was like my second mom. She took care of me, comforted me, played with me and always made me laugh. I always wanted to be with her. We were so close, and I never wanted to be away from her.

As I got older, I started to become more independent and naturally drifted away.  Even during my rebellious phase she was always there for me. Then I left for college and we didn’t talk as much. After that, I got married and moved away and started my own family.  I thought that’s just what happens as you get older.

Then my mom passed away.  Once again my sister stepped up. She comforted all of us, and took care of me and my brothers and sisters. But while she was taking care of everyone else no one was there to comfort her. That made me feel even more sad. I wanted to encourage her and comfort her too, but I didn’t know what to say.

Thats when I thought about the Beginning of Peace: The Words of Mother's Love. The messages of gratitude, encouragement and comfort gave me the words I couldn’t find on my own. As I began to put these words into practice our relationship started to get repaired. We were able to heal, reconnect and become closer again.

Because of the words of Mothers Love, our relationship was restored and I’m so thankful for that. My hope is that my family will continue to put these words into practice so we can always live with love and peace.
