I am so grateful to be able to practice the “Mother’s love language” campaign with my family and neighbors.
When I first moved to this area, all the neighbors littered, threw trash at each other’s houses, burned trash in front of their neighbors’ houses. And people would say bad things about each other. I prayed that this situation would change through my words and actions.
When my neighbors threw trash past my house, I put on gloves and went out to clean it up. I cleared the weeds from all the houses around me. I cleaned up the trash every day, including the houses around me. For 4 months straight, I cleaned up the trash, weeded, watered my neighbors, and always smiled and greeted them first, even though they were very upset and didn't even respond.
And on the 29th of Tet, it had been almost 2 months but the garbage truck had not come to collect the garbage from any house in the neighborhood, the garbage was piled high in front of both sides of my house, my husband and I cleaned up, carried each bag of garbage to the landfill. Then cleaned up both sides of the neighbor's house.
After Tet, I went to greet and give fruits to my neighbor who often dumped trash and dirty water in my house, and always picked a fight with my customers. While talking, she said that she went to ask the whole neighborhood to find out who had cleaned up the trash so she could pay. When she found out that I had cleaned up all the trash and cleaned her house first, she was very touched.
Since then, she has been watering my plants twice a day. She happily chats with me and takes out the trash herself, no longer leaving it in front of my house. The neighbors also take out their trash themselves, do not litter in each other's houses, and the neighbors no longer badmouth each other.
I am so happy to be able to contribute in a small way through the Mother's language of love campaign.
