This year my husband and I started packing each other’s lunch for work. Everyday we pack a filling lunch and many healthy snacks. Keeping in mind one another’s health. Sometimes I pack him Tylenol if he’s not feeling well or he will pack me an extra sparkling water since I don’t like to drink regular water. :)
On top of the lunch we made for one another, we would write a small note wishing them a good day at work and giving them thanks. Sometimes it’s specific, like, “thank you for cooking our meals” or “thank you for caring for me when my knee hurt”. Sometimes we just write “I appreciate all you do for our family”.
After practicing these acts of kindness and gratitude for a few months I got a pleasant surprise in my lunchbox yesterday at work. I pulled out a note my husband wrote to me filled with loving words, then I found two more notes written by my son and daughter in their best handwriting.
They wrote, “I love you mommy, thank you mommy”. I smiled when I seen their cute handwriting and words. They’re so young but made the effort to spell and write the words to show their love.
In that moment I realized that my children mimicked our actions. They learned to give thanks and actions of love because we shared words of love to one another. I give thanks to Father and Mother for the Word of Mothers Love and Peace Campaign that encouraged us to practice Mothers love that filled my home with love and appreciation.
