Last year, I wanted to carry out the Language of Mothers’ Love Language Campaign, which I couldn’t properly put into practice, but this year, I wanted to carry it out with my children. The children also expressed willingness to join us.
Our son, a sophomore in middle school, is on vacation and is attending a church gathering.
The day before, my son said he wanted to share it with his brother and sisters and wanted to make cookies, and I bought the ingredients for him. I said, “Mom can take a break,” saying that I will make it with my 5th grader sister, and it was amazing and heartwarming to see the two of us finding recipes and sharing roles while preparing.
I asked him if he could help with anything, but he said it was okay and he said he would make cookies for the aunts at church too, and I politely refused, telling me to just wait.
We had small difficulties due to spilling the dough or measuring incorrectly, but he did not rebuke him, but gently encouraged him, saying, “It’s okay, I just need to add a little more.” My sister, too, was busy doing all the work she told me to do, which might get annoying, but I happily participated in the effort until the end, asking, “Can I help you with something next time?”
By the time I had finished making cookies, cleaning up, and washing dishes, three hours had passed, but the children smiled and said, “I hope Zion members eat deliciously,” and “I hope they feel good after eating.” The love of a mother was already evident in their conversations . As I watched, I, too, commended the children, saying, “It’s really well made,” and “The Zion members seem to like it very much.” Naturally, I felt that I was practicing the words of Mother’s love.
The finished cookies both tasted and looked great. These cookies contain the love of Mother, the best natural seasoning. Afterward, the children shared cookies with the student members, spreading the language of laughter and love. I, too, shared the cookies with the students, using the cookies the children had made and eating them with the members, deepening Mother’s heart and soul. I had the time to feel the love language.
We will continue to practice at home and in the future to create happy families, and share that love with those around us.
